Question 10: Is it possible to control the source of the HP Insight Remote
Support solution to meet my legal requirements?
Answer: For customers, who have very specific requirements for controlling the source of any
software in a production environment, the HP Insight Remote Support software, available from
HP Software Depot, makes it possible to download and store a particular version of Insight
Remote Support Standard and Advanced and disable the Remote Support Software Manager
(RSSWM) component and updates. This is not recommended for any customers without this
specific need.

Question 11: Can I still have my preferred local HP Authorized Support
Provider to deliver my HP contract or warranty service for me?
Answer: The user interface of the HP Insight Remote Support software contains a Service
Providers tab in the user interface that allows you specify your preferred HP Authorized Support
Provider by device. If some or all of your support is delivered by a service provider on behalf of
HP, as your preference, please contact that provider on if this service is available and if it is for
the instructions on how to complete this screen.

Question 12: How does opting for receiving recommendations to my
environment work?
Answer: If during installation or subsequently you have opted to receive recommendations to
your environment from HP or your HP Authorized Reseller, then HP Insight Remote Support uses
its ability to collect configuration and utilization information of each device.
This information is prepared into a report that can be used by your preferred HP sales partner,
knowing your environment and business, to make recommendations on how to improve your IT
infrastructure. You can control and configure which HP sales partner you prefer to work with for
all of your IT equipment or selectively by device in the
Service Providers
tab.

Question 13: Can I run HP Insight Remote Support in a virtual environment?
Answer: HP Insight Remote Support software is supported in a VMware ESX and ESXi virtual
environment. Remote monitoring of virtual machine devices is also supported.
Please see the Release Notes for your HP Insight Remote Support solution (either HP Insight
Remote Support Standard Release Notes or HP Insight Remote Support Advanced Release
Notes). The Release Notes provide information on the supported VMware releases and specific
restrictions.
