Question 7: Is HP Insight Remote Support secure?
Answer: HP Insight Remote Support requires an encrypted outbound initiated Internet
connection (HTTPS/443) only. However, the secured technology used should be
acceptable within most company's security policies. For more details, please see the HP

Question 8: Does HP Insight Remote Support cause extra network traffic on my
LAN?
Answer: To monitor the health of a device, a diagnostic agent needs to be installed on the
managed device and if it detects any error conditions they will be sent to the Central
Management Server/Hosting Device. This will create a very small amount of extra network
traffic but only when an error condition that is negatively impacting the managed device.
The only other time when data is transmitted on the network is when basic configuration
information is collected from the managed device. For HP Insight Remote Support Standard, this
is only every two weeks and for HP Insight Remote Support Advanced you control the frequency
and the schedule of these collections.

Question 9: What data is collected and how is this data used?
Answer:
HP Insight Remote Support collects basic configuration information from your devices
to help HP resolve problems more quickly and accurately. No business information is
collected and the data is managed according to the HP Data Privacy policy. Configuration
data collected includes:
Server model
Processor model & speed
Storage capacity & speed
Memory capacity & speed
Firmware/BIOS
Operating System
HP Integrated Lights Out (iLO) presence
Power management
If you have a proactive services contract with HP, then additional configuration, performance
and availability data will need to be collected in order to deliver these services. This requires the
Insight Remote Support Advanced software. For details, please contact your HP Account Support
