Modifying Settings
Most of the Remote Support Software Manager (RSSWM) settings are configured during installation. The
settings can be modified at any time to meet your unique needs.
Modifying the Global Update Policy
The following section explains how to modify the Global Update Policy. This setting applies to all
packages, but will be overridden if the Factory Update Policy is more restrictive or a Package Update
Policy is set.
To modify the Global Update Policy:
1. Start RSSWM by clicking Start → All Programs → Hewlett-Packard → Remote Support
Software Manager → Remote Support Software Manager User Interface.
2. In RSSWM, select Options → Global Update Policy. The Global Update Policy window is
displayed.

3. In the Global Update Policy section, select an Update Policy:
n Automatic on-line updates – Package updates will be downloaded and installed automatically.
n Manual on-line updates – Package updates will be downloaded automatically, but installations
must be done manually.
n Do not use RSSWM to update Insight Remote Support – Package updates must be manually
