next to the Set Update Policy link in the Actions column. See "Modifying the Package Update
Policy" on page 15 for information about modifying Package Update Policy.
The figure below shows how the User Update Policy is determined:
Figure 1.3. How the User Update Policy Is Determined
For example, if a user has set the Package Update Policy to Use Global Update Policy, then the User
Update Policy will be equal to the Global Update Policy.
If a user has set the Package Update Policy to Automatic on-line updates and has set the Global
Update Policy to Manual on-line updates, then the User Update Policy will be Automatic on-line
updates.
If a user has set the Package Update Policy to Manual on-line updates and has set the Global Update
Policy to Automatic on-line updates, then the User Update Policy will be Manual on-line updates.
Factory Update Policy Settings
The Factory Update Policy is set by the package creators based on the intended function and business
usage of the software package. When determining the Update Policy, the Factory Update Policy takes
precedence only if it is more restrictive than the user settings.
Update Policy
The Update Policy is determined by RSSWM based on the User Update Policy and the Factory Update
Policy, and is the Update Policy that is ultimately applied to an individual package. The Update Policy
compares the user's client-side Update Policy settings (the User Update Policy) with HP's package
specific settings (the Factory Update Policy) to resolve how a package may be updated. The Update
Policy is set to the User Update Policy unless the Factory Update Policy is more restrictive, as shown in
"Figure 1.4. How the Update Policy Is Determined" below.
