Security tools may Inhibit some remote support functions
Security tools running on the HP Insight Remote Support Central Management Server may block or prevent
some Insight Remote Support functions such as email notifications. Refer to the configuration manuals of t
the security tools that are being used to make sure that these programs and ports are not blocked:
Program: DESTAService.exe
Port: 7906
Port: 443
Issues with multiple IP addresses
If a device has multiple IP addresses configured, it is possible that the SNMP trap is using a different IP
address than HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) found during discovery and configured in HP SIM. In
this case the trap will be discarded by WEBES.
In order to fix this issue, configure the SNMP agent on the managed endpoint to have the matching IP
address the managed endpoint was discovered with.
Incompatiblity with HP System Management Homepage version 6.2.2.7
When the user installs the HP System Management Homepage (SMH) version 6.2.2.7, the Insight Remote
Support Advanced User Interface within HP SIM fails or hangs. This HP SMH version may have been
installed when installing the HP Systems Insight Manager 6.2 Hotfix Update Kit or from downloading a
copy of HP SMH from the HP web site from November 2010 through January 2011.
This can be fixed by installing HP Systems Management Home version 6.2.3 or higher. A copy is
available from
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/agents/index.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_U
SEN.
When P4000 Management Group has multiple VIPs, the VIPs are
discovered instead of the P4000 node
When a P4000 Management Group contains multiple VIPs, HP SIM will discover the VIPs instead of the
P4000 node where the VIPs are hosted. Ensure that you do not include any P4000 Management Group
Virtual IP (VIP) addresses, when discovering new P4000 devices with HP SIM.
VIP addresses are created when users create and configure P4000 clusters. Instead, users should discover
P4000 devices using an individual IP address, or create IP discovery ranges excluding all P4000 VIP
addresses. If users do discover a P4000 VIP address with HP SIM, they should delete the managed entity
for the VIP address from Insight Remote Support Advanced before running any collections or capturing
any test traps. After deleting the VIP address entity, re-discover the node using the actual IP address for
the P4000 node.
HP-UX 11i v1 (11.11) not reporting events
The SFMProviderModule on servers running HP-UX 11i v1 (11.11) can move from ‘OK’ to a ‘Degraded’
mode and this will cause communication failures including hardware event submission from the end-point
device to the Central Management Server (CMS).
This is a known issue and can be fixed by installing the new SFMProviderModule module that is available
as part of the System Fault Management (SFM) A.04.01.01.02 or higher software package.
