A.05.70 HP Insight Remote Support Advanced Managed Systems Configuration Guide (October 2011, 5900-1726)
Chapter 11
Integrity Superdome 2 Server Configuration
HP SIM 6.2 is the first version that fully discovers the Superdome 2 Onboard Administrator (OA) using the
WS-Manage protocol. This chapter describes how to enable Insight Remote Support Advanced support
for the Superdome 2 using WEBES 6.3 and the HP SIM 6.2 and later releases.
The components of this process are:
1. Discover the Superdome 2 partitions with HP SIM and configure the Superdome 2 OA system
properties. (See "HP SIM Configuration" below.)
2. Configure the WS-Man protocol entry in WEBES 6.3. (See "WEBES 6.3 WS-Man Configuration" on
page 64.)
3. Configure HP SIM to monitor Superdome 2 OA events. (See "Monitoring WS-Man Events with HP
SIM" on page 66.)
4. Verify the configuration by sending a test event. (See "Generating Test Events" on page 67.)
HP SIM Configuration
On the CMS, perform the following procedure to discover and configure the Superdome 2 OA within HP
SIM:
1. Connect to the Superdome 2 OA (through Telnet, SSH, or a Web browser). Check the Firmware
Bundle Version, which appears when you connect to the OA. If it is 1.x.x, then either the Hotfix
Update Kit for HP SIM 6.2 must be installed on HP SIM 6.2 to enable proper discovery of the
Superdome 2 server or the CMS should be updated to HP SIM 6.3. If the firmware is 2.2.27 or later
then HP SIM 6.3 and the Hotfix Update Kit for HP SIM 6.3 must be used to enable the discovery fo
the Superdome 2 WS-Man interface. These kits can be found at the following URL:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/dl_windows.html.
2. Log on to the OA. Use one of the following methods to display information about the complex:
n If using Telnet or SSH, enter the show complex info command.
n If using a Web browser, click the Complex Information link in the left menu and then the
Information tab.
The Current Product Number and Serial Number of the complex appears. Record these values for
later use.
3. While logged on to the OA, use the show network command to show the Network Settings and
Protocol Status of the OA. Verify the Network Settings are correct, including the DNS server
addresses, for both the active and standby OAs, and the Protocol Status indicates that WS-Man is
enabled and SNMP is disabled. WS-Man is the supported event reporting protocol for the Superdome
2 OA and SNMP should be disabled to avoid redundant events being sent to both HP SIM and
WEBES.
4. Discover the Superdome 2 partitions:
