field, select the Existing collection option and select the SAN Configuration Collection item from
the associated drop-down list.
7. Click OK to create the new HP SIM system collection and click OK again in the confirmation dialog to
return to the main Customize Collections page in HP SIM.
8. To view and configure the new SAN Collection, select the Remote Support Configuration and
Services from the HP SIM Options menu, and click the SAN Services tab and select your new
collection from the RS SAN Collections drop-down list.
Creating Credential Groups for a SAN Collection
In large enterprises, for convenience many devices will often have identical authentication details. In such
cases, to avoid having to individually configure devices in a SAN Collection, pre-configure a credential
group with the relevant authentication details and apply those credentials to individual devices by means
of a drop-down list in the UI.
To create a credential group, and pre-configure authentication details, do the following:
1. Click New Credential Group.
2. Provide a name for the new group in the Description field and complete the remaining authentication
fields as appropriate. You are required to enter password details twice in the Password field.
3. Click Save All Changes to save details of the new group and make it available in the Cred Group
drop-down list for individual devices.
Configuring Devices in a SAN Collection
Once you have created a SAN Collection, as described in the previous subsection, you must provide
authentication details for the devices in each collection so that the RSCC application will be able to
access each device when configuration data is being collected from the devices in your SAN Collection.
In the SAN Services tab, select a SAN Collection from the RS SAN Collections drop-down list.
All devices associated with the SAN Collection are listed in table format, as follows:
l The OK column displays the configuration status of the device. The Configuration Wizard can be
launched from the tooltip that appears when hovering over the icon in the OK column.
l The RSC column allows you enable configuration collections for each device listed. All devices are
disabled by default.
