CMS Application Requirements
.NET Framework Requirements
The .NET Framework version 2.0 is a pre-requisite on the Central Management Server (CMS) before the
Insight Remote Support Advanced installation. If .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed on the CMS before
the Insight Remote Support Advanced installation, the installation process will fail with a non-specific error
message. Note that installing the .NET Framework 3.0 or 3.5 will meet this pre-requisite as these versions
include the .NET 2.0 runtime. It is recommended to install .NET 3.5 with the latest service pack and all
updates.
Important: .NET Framework 4.0 does not include the .NET 2.0 runtime. If you install .NET
Framework 4.0, you will also need to install .NET Framework 2.0.
To determine if version 2.0 of the .NET Framework is installed, locate the
%systemroot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework folder. Within this folder are subfolders named with the
version number of .NET Framework versions installed. If version 2.0 is installed, there should be a folder
named v2.0.xxxx. If this folder is not present, the CMS does not have .NET Framework version 2.0
installed.
To install .NET Framework 2.0, download the setup file from: http://www.microsoft.com/net/.
Supported Web Browsers
The following browsers are supported for Insight Remote Support Advanced. Browsers not listed are not
supported.
l Internet Explorer, Versions 6.x, 7.x, and 8.x
l Firefox, Version 3.x
The Java Virtual Machine (Java VM) is required to access the WEBES SEA web interface.
Internet Explorer: On 32-bit and x64 editions of Windows XP and Server 2003, Microsoft no longer
supplies a Java plug-in with the Internet Explorer Web browser. If you wish to use the 32-bit Internet
Explorer to connect to the WEBES SEA user interface (the 64-bit IE on x64 will not work with SEA), then
you must download and install a Sun JRE instead, which includes Web browser Java plug-ins.

Firefox: Does not include any Java VM. You must download and install a Sun JRE. Downloads are
available from: http://java.sun.com/getjava.
