Insight Remote Support Advanced
Prerequisites
Overview
To use Insight Remote Support Advanced you need at least two pieces of hardware: a supported
Windows ProLiant device to serve as the Central Management Server (CMS) and at least one managed
system. Insight Remote Support Advanced is more than a single software component, it is a Remote
Support solution that works with several interdependent software applications to deliver a wide range of
remote support services.
The complexity of the solution and the number of software applications involved requires that you follow a
sequence of installations and configurations crossing multiple documents, systems, and applications.
Before you get started with Insight Remote Support Advanced, you must verify that you have all of the
necessary hardware, software, and documentation. The Insight Remote Support Advanced Managed
Systems Configuration Guide provides the necessary information to validate that your managed systems
hardware is properly configured before you install and configure the Insight Remote Support Advanced
CMS software.
Caution: Due to requirements differences, the HP SIM Storage Essentials plug-in is not supported on
the same physical CMS system as the Insight Remote Support Advanced plug-in. If you need to use
Storage Essentials in the same network as Insight Remote Support Advanced please contact your
HP Account Team for assistance.
Configure Your Managed Systems First
The hardware and operating systems specifications for supported managed systems are covered in the
Insight Remote Support Advanced Release Notes available at

The software and configuration requirements specifically for Remote Support of managed systems are
detailed in the Insight Remote Support Advanced Managed Systems Configuration Guide. Make sure that
your managed systems meet the minimum standards before you start the Insight Remote Support
Advanced CMS configuration.
Before Configuring the CMS
Before you install any Insight Remote Support Advanced components on your CMS, verify that your CMS
meets all minimum specifications listed in the Insight Remote Support Advanced Release Notes available
at http://www.hp.com/go/insightremoteadvanced-docs. The Insight Remote Support Advanced-specific
software and communication specifications for the CMS are detailed in this manual. To expedite the
configuration of the CMS, HP strongly recommends that you collect the relevant data for the CMS device
before installing or configuring software. Failure to prepare this information in advance will result in delays
during your installation.
