Central Management Server Configuration Guide
Appendix C: Remote Support Batch Upload Process
batchUpload.exe –import c:\temp\batch_systems.csv
6. Enter the same username, password, and domain that you use to Log on to HP SIM on the CMS.
Note: The CSV file includes System Name and System IP Address values. Unlike the other
values you will record in the file, these values are strictly information and will not overwrite any
data in the HP SIM user interface. With all other values, any discovered or existing Entitlement
Information will be overwritten by the data you import from the batch upload file.
Using the Batch Upload Log File
The batch upload process is used to update managed system configuration information for specified
managed systems. Each system configuration entry (one system per line) is processed individually. You
can view the log file at: C:\Program Files\HP\RemoteSupport\logs\batchUpload.log.
Errors are handled and logged before the next entry is processed. All information in the batch upload CSV
file will be used to update HP SIM, including blank values. To match a system in the CSV file to a
managed system in HP SIM, the following algorithm is applied:
1. Find matching System Name and IP Address
2. Find matching IP Address and Serial Number
3. Find matching IP Address and Product Number
4. Find matching Serial Number and Product Number
If no match is found, an error is logged and processing continues to the next system entry (line) in the
batch upload CSV file.
Log file errors may include:
l System not found in SIM:
20070514_12:55:56|BatchUploadLog|error |SimStub.cxx.495 | Could not find
a match in SIM.
l Invalid number of parameters:
20070514_12:55:53|BatchUploadLog|error |SimStub.cxx.1025 | There is not
the right amount of elements that are required to set attributes.
l Data missing for a specific system:
20070514_12:55:59|BatchUploadLog|error |SimStub.cxx.495 | No combination
matches were made of System Name/IPAddress or IPAddress/SerialNumber or
IPAddress/ProductID or SerialNumber/ProductID, cannot lookup the node for
this line.
Note: One last blank line is always processed beyond the entries in the CSV file, resulting in an error
in the log file.
