5 Installing and Setting up HP
WBEM Services
This section describes the prerequisites and what system administrators
should do before they actually use HP WBEM Services for HP-UX and
Linux.
NOTE Do not move or change any HP WBEM Services file locations! All
directories are pre-determined. Provider and client developers need a
stable file system. The files need to stay where they expect to see them.
Full instructions for installing HP WBEM Services (for HP-UX and
Linux) can be found in the product Release Notes. You can view, print,
and download a copy of the Release Notes from
http://www.docs.hp.com. Installation is mostly automatic; you do not
have configuration options.
After install, you must start HP WBEM Services for the first time, with
the cimserver.
• For HP-UX:
No operation is necessary; HP WBEM Services will be running as
a result of the installation.
• For Linux:
Enter: /sbin/service pegasus-wbem start
After installing, you can set some options, the properties of HP WBEM
Services itself.
Once HP WBEM Services is running with the properties you want, back
up the files listed below.
• HP-UX Directory Structure:
The first two files are the SSL certificates files. The next four are the
directories for the repository files.
• /etc/opt/hp/sslshare/cert.pem
