Introduction This document contains a list of the Windows Eventlog messages generated by the HP Insight Management WBEM Providers for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012. Each alert indication from the \root\HPQ namespace conforming to the query “SELECT * FROM HP_AlertIndication” will be logged to the Windows System Event Log. Each threshold indication from the \root\HPQ namespace conforming to the query “SELECT * FROM HP_ThresholdIndication” will also be logged to the Windows System Event Log.
Related Documents The purpose of this document is to show all indications and the associated event log messages that would be logged to the Windows System Event Log. The document titled HP Insight Management WBEM Providers Microsoft® Windows® Data sheet available at http://www.hp.com/go/wbem/docs documents all indications and lists the properties delivered by each indication.
Indication to Eventlog Mapping The CIM_AlertIndication.EventID and CIM_AlertIndication.ProviderName properties are unique for each type of alert indication within the system. The EventID and ProviderName properties are used to map to specific messages logged to the Windows System Event Log. The same applies for the CIM_ThresholdIndication.EventID and CIM_ThresholdIndication.ProviderName.
Sample Indication and Log Message Here is a sample of a Windows Event Log message from an indication with a Source of “HP Sensor” and an Event ID of “6”. Figure 2 Windows Event Log message Description expanded from above: Cooling redundancy has been lost. (Cooling Redundancy Set 1) User Action Check the fan configuration and check the status of the cooling redundancy. Ensure the system is being cooled adequately. Add or replace fans if necessary.

Suggested Event Log Scraping Method The suggested method to perform Event Log scraping of actionable events is to use the “Source” and “Event ID” of the Event log message to determine the specific type of event that occurred. It is not recommended to parse the event log message text to determine the event type that occurred.
