7-3-2 Memory containment hierarchyscenario 2
The following diagrams show the memory providers containment hierarchy for a ProLiant server
platform where all memory is located on memory boards (there is no memory on the system board).
In the following example, there are four memory board slots (two are occupied by memory boards,
two are empty). Each memory board contains four memory module slots. Board Slot 1 is populated by
Board 1, which has two occupied memory module slots occupied and two empty slots. Board Slot 2 is
populated by Board 2, which is unpopulated by memory modules. Board Slots 3 and 4 are not
populated by memory boards.
The following example does not depict any specific ProLiant model.
NOTE: DIMM numbering is shown in all subsequent descriptions in this document in format x-y,
where x is the board and cartridge number and y is the memory module slot and socket number.
The system board has a number of 0 consistent with ProLiant tradition.
