2 Features and change notification
The HP VCRM and the HP VCA are integrated with the HP SMH, which is the standard single-server
management tool in the HP Insight Foundation Suite for ProLiant. HP Systems Insight Manager (HP
SIM), also part of the HP Insight Foundation Suite for ProLiant, uses the HP VCRM and the HP VCA
to facilitate software versioning, updates, and related tasks.
HP VCA features
The HP VCA provides the following features:
• Monitor Software.
Monitor software and firmware installed on a server
• Compare Software Versions.
Provides easy version comparison from the repository to the server on which the HP VCA is
installed
• Install Software.
Install Custom Software Baselines, ProLiant and Integrity Support Packs, Service Pack for
ProLiant, or individual or multiple software components
Change notification
HP VCA no longer supports HP SIM acquiring and reporting the SW status to indicate the
differences. In order to get software status updated in HP SIM, you must assign systems to baselines
in HP SIM. HP SIM then compares the level of software installed on those systems to versions in
the baseline, and indicates any differences. For more information, see the HP Systems Insight
