Update install instructions
Insight Control server provisioning 7.2.1 is an update release. It requires that you have Insight
Control server provisioning 7.2 installed before you can update to 7.2.1. If you are a new customer,
follow the instructions in “Instructions for new customers” (page 3). If you are an existing customer
with Insight Control server provisioning 7.2 installed, follow the instructions in “Instructions for
updating from 7.2 to 7.2.1” (page 4).
Please check the website http://www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs to see if there is an updated
version of this manual. Check the Edition number and if a newer version exists, please use that
manual instead of this one.

For version 7.2.1, HP added support for running Insight Control server provisioning on VMware
ESXi versions 5.0u2 and 5.1u1. Although HP does not support running Insight Control server
provisioning version 7.2 on these newer VMware releases, we do support installing version 7.2
onto these ESXi hypervisors for the purpose of doing an update to Insight Control server provisioning
7.2.1, which means that the 7.2 installation must immediately be followed by an update to 7.2.1
Instructions for new customers
If you are a new customer you must first install Insight Control server provisioning 7.2.
Insight Control server provisioning 7.2 is downloadable as a ZIP file from http://www.hp.com/
go/insightupdates. HP Insight Control server provisioning 7.2 is also available on USB flash drive
from the media kit. You can order the media from: http://www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol (on the
right menu click BUY INSIGHT CONTROL).
Refer to the Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.2 Installation Guide available at http://
www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs for instructions on how to UNZIP the file and install the
appliance.
In the Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.2 Installation Guide use the following sections to install
the software:
• Check the Host requirements section.
• Check the Requirements for using the USB media or ZIP file download section for important
information.
• Follow the instructions in the Procedure for getting the software and installing section to
download the Insight Control server provisioning 7.2 software (ZIP file) and install the software.
NOTE: Built-in Windows ZIP capability available through Windows Explorer is not able to
open the large Insight Control server provisioning ZIP files correctly. Add-on ZIP capability,
such as from WinZip or the free tool 7zip (available from http://www.7-zip.org) is required.
For Linux systems a version of unzip supporting ZIP version 3.0 must be used.
• Follow the instructions in the Start up your appliance for the first time section.
NOTE: As described in the Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.2 Installation Guide, you
must ensure that your ESXi VM host has the time set correctly, otherwise your appliance may
hang at the “Please wait while the appliance starts” screen.
• Follow the instructions in the Initial login and appliance networking section.
