7.2 Copying configuration files
Procedure 38 To copy a configuration file
1. Select the configuration file of interest from the master pane of any Configuration Files screen.
2. Select ActionsSave as.
3. Edit the configuration name as desired and select OK. The configuration file copy may now
be edited.
7.3 Creating a configuration file
Creating a configuration file brings it into the Insight Control server provisioning appliance database.
Verify your configuration file was created by finding it in the master pane list on any Configuration
Files screen.

7.3.1 Methods to create a configuration file
There are multiple ways to create a new configuration file:
Make a copy of an existing configuration file by saving it under a new name. Use
ActionsSave as from any Configuration Files screen.
The current configuration of a target server may be captured and stored in the appliance
database as a configuration file. Use an OS Build Plan step to do this as described in “Editing
OS Build Plans (page 54).
Create a configuration from scratch by selecting ActionsCreate configuration file from any
Configuration files screen.

Name Description: This is the unique label that will be associated with the configuration file. The
name of the configuration file appears in the master pane list on any
Configuration Files screen (select Configuration Files from the main menu) and
is what you use to identify a configuration file within OS Build Plans.
Data type: Character string
The Name may not begin with a space or punctuation.
The Name cannot contain: <, >, &, newlines, tabs, slashes (/), or backslashes
(\).
The Name must be unique.
Default value: None
Required: Yes

Description Description: Use this text area to create a short, meaningful synopsis of this configuration
file.
Data type: Character string
The Description has a maximum length of 500 characters.
