5.2.2 Build Plans for capturing and installing images
HP provides Build Plans for capturing and installing images. See “Install a specific Windows
edition (page 24) for information on how to alter these Build Plans to work with other versions of
Windows.
The following Build Plans are provided by HP for capturing images.
Image capture Build Plans
ProLiant OS - Windows 2008 Standard x64 Image Capture
ProLiant OS - Windows 2008 R2 Standard x64 Image Capture
ProLiant OS - Windows 2012 Standard x64 Image Capture
NOTE: These Build Plans contain a Prepare Windows for Image Capture step that uses
the Sysprep tool to remove all system-specific information on the target server, such as the computer
name and security identifier (SID). This causes the target server to run the default service OS after
the Build Plan is run; it will not return to running the production OS. To return the target server to
production OS, you can run an image installation Build Plan on it to install the image you just
captured.
By default, the WIM image is stored on your Media Server in the Images directory.
Once you have captured an image, the following Build Plans can be used to install an image to
target servers. Target servers must have similar hardware to the server the image was captured
from.
