4.5 Erasing servers
Erasing a server means returning a server to its bare metal state and placing it in maintenance
mode. It is accomplished with the ProLiant HW Erase Server OS Build Plan.
The ProLiant HW Erase Server Build Plan will:
erase all the disks on a server
reset any HP Smart Array controllers, removing all logical volumes
reset the server’s BIOS, including the date and time, to factory defaults
The erased server will remain as a discovered server in the master pane of the Servers page.
CAUTION: Running the ProLiant HW Erase Server causes data to be lost on the target servers.
If you wish to just remove a server from the list of servers discovered by Insight Control server
provisioning, see “Deleting servers (page 37).
4.6 Network configuration for servers
From the network configuration screen, you can change server-wide parameters like the system
name as well as the settings for each individual NIC on the server. If multiple servers are selected,
bulk host name and IP assignments can be performed.
CAUTION: Network changes made to production servers will be applied as soon as OK is
selected, possibly disconnecting active users of that system.

Procedure 23 To change the network configuration of a server
1. From the Servers screen, select one or more servers from the master pane. In order to change
the network configuration for multiple servers, the servers must meet the following requirements:
The servers must be in a managed state.
The servers must be the same hardware model.
The servers must have the same number of NICs.
The servers NIC names must all be the same. For example, if you have two servers with
two NICs each and the first server has NIC names eth0 and eth1, the second server’s
NICs must also be named eth0 and eth1.
Each NIC must have a name.
The servers Deployment interface names must be the same.
