4.4.2 Editing server general information
Table 6 Input fields for general information on the edit server screen
Display name Description: Required customer-provided text that identifies this server. The display name of
the server appears in the master pane list on any Servers screen.
Data type: Display names are composed of a series of labels concatenated with periods
(<label>.<label>, etc.).
Display names may contain alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and periods
(.).
The display name has a maximum length of 255 characters.
Each label within a display name must begin and end with an alphanumeric
character and have a maximum length of 63 characters.
Default value: None
Required: Yes
Description Description: Optional customer-provided text that gives extra information about this server.
Data type: Character strings.
The Description has a maximum length of 1333 characters.
Default value: None
Required: No

Procedure 18 To create a new custom attribute for a server
1. From the Edit server screen, select Create custom attribute.
2. On the Create Custom Attribute screen, enter the custom attribute Name and Value. See
“Custom attributes for servers” (page 35) for additional information.
NOTE: Custom attribute names must be unique within the Server custom attributes table.
The only way to override a custom attribute so it is local to the server is to use the icon to
edit it as described in the procedure: “To override an inherited custom attribute so it is local
to the server” (page 39).
3. From the Create Custom Attribute screen select an action:
• OK – Saves all changes that were made on the Create Custom Attribute screen and closes
the screen.
• Cancel – Exits the Create Custom Attribute screen without saving any edits.
4. From the Edit server screen select an action:
• OK – Saves all changes that were made on the Edit screen and closes the Edit screen.
• Cancel – Exits the Edit server screen without saving any edits.
