HP Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.2 Online Help

Table Of Contents
The value can contain special characters and spaces, may be multiple lines, and you may
also leave it blank. Special characters might require double quotes if the value will be executed,
for example echo hello > temp.txt”.
You may not use a custom attribute within a custom attribute value.
You may not have duplicate custom attribute names for an individual script.
Custom attributes are associated with servers, your facility, and OS Build Plans. If the same
custom attribute name is defined at multiple levels, conflicts are resolved by precedence.
Custom attribute precedence, highest to lowest
1. Servers
2. Facility
3. OS Build Plans
For example, if a custom attribute is defined for a server and defined for an OS Build Plan,
the custom attribute value defined for the server would be used.
NOTE: Custom attributes set at the server level have the highest precedence.
4.3 Deleting servers
Deleting a server means removing all records of the server from the Insight Control server
provisioning database. It does not shut down or uninstall the server.
If you wish to clear the disk of a server, see “Erasing servers (page 40).
Once a server has been deleted, it can be rediscovered as described in Adding a server
(page 34). Insight Control server provisioning will treat the server as brand new and will have no
historical information about it.
Procedure 17 To delete a server
1. Select the server you wish to delete from the master pane list of any Servers screen.
2. Select ActionsDelete. You will be asked to confirm deleting the server.
4.4 Editing server information
To edit the information associated with a specific server, select ActionsEdit from any Servers
screen.
NOTE: The ActionsEdit menu item is only available when a single server is selected in the
master pane list of servers.
