12.40 Appliance reboot on first time setup loses console
12.40.1 Symptom
During the IC server provisioning first time set up process, the appliance is rebooted by the user.
The appliance reboots but the console does not return, instead you see a screen on the console
that reads, “VMware waiting for connection.”
12.40.2 Resolution
The VMware console lost the connection to the appliance when a forced reboot occurred,
interrupting the first time set up process. Close the console window and open a new one. The new
console window should connect to the appliance.
12.41 What to do if a certificate action fails
Follow the instructions in “Troubleshooting certificate actions” (page 112) if any of these certificate
actions fails:
Create a self-signed certificate
Create a certificate signing request
Import certificate
Prerequisites
• Minimum required privileges: Infrastructure Administrator
Procedure 56 Troubleshooting certificate actions
1. Wait for the web server to restart, then try the action again.
2. For creating a certificate signing request or importing a certificate, verify that the networking
is working properly.
12.42 What to do if a support dump file creation action fails
A subsequent support dump file creation action might fail if there is insufficient time between them.
Prerequisites
• Minimum required privileges: Infrastructure Administrator
Procedure 57 Troubleshooting support dump file creation
1. Wait for 10 minutes. A support dump can take several minutes, and if the logs are large or
the system is loaded, it can take longer.
2. Retry the create support dump action.
