4 Updates and patches
You can update the software components of your appliance for upgrades or patches by selecting
Actions→Update Appliance in the Settings window. The online help steps you through the process.
When you upload the update to the appliance, information about the update will be displayed
including the version to be applied, how long the update is expected to take, and a link to bring
up the release notes. Always read the release notes before applying an update. You will have an
opportunity to accept the update or cancel it before it is applied.
NOTE: Depending on the update, it may take 15 minutes or up to two hours to complete the
appliance update.
Most updates will contain a new version of the WinPE generation utility. Always generate and
upload a new WinPE if the utility has been updated. Also, updates may contain an updated Media
Server Setup Utility. Be sure to download and use the updated version any time you go to update
your Media Server. And you may want to download the Media Server setup utility after an appliance
update if you plan to make later changes to the Media Server.
