HP Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.2 Installation Guide

3 Recommended actions after initial setup
Once you have your IC server provisioning VM set up and running, there are additional
configuration tasks that might be required in your environment. These Recommended actions are
listed in the Help area, which is initially pinned to the UI.
As you visit the links under Recommended actions, a check mark will be displayed next to the items
visited. You do not have to complete the task to have the check mark appear, simply visit the link.
Once all the Recommended actions have been checked, except for the Quick Start walk through,
the Help area will no longer be pinned to the UI. However, you can access the Help area any time
via the ? icon in the banner.
Initial recommended actions for IC server provisioning can include:
Set up Media Server This is a link to the Settings Edit Media Server page where you can
enter the location information for your Media Server. This is required to run the HP-supplied
OS Build Plans. If you have not yet set up your Media Server, you can download the Insight
Control server provisioning Media Server setup utility from the page, which will help you set
up and configure your Media Server (see “Setting up your Media Server (page 11). Using
the toolset is optional; instructions for manually setting up a Media Server are available in an
Insight Control server provisioning white paper, found at http://www.hp.com/go/
insightcontrol/docs.
Add Product Keys This is a link to the Settings Edit Product Keys page. If you have Microsoft
volume license keys, you can enter them on this page and they will automatically be applied
during a Microsoft installation. The HP-provided configuration files for Windows installation
expect these keys. If you do not enter your product keys on this page, you must modify the
HP-provided configuration files before they will work properly.
Configure DHCP This is a link to the Settings Edit DHCP page where you can configure your
DHCP settings and upload the required WinPE service OS to the appliance. A DHCP server
is required in order to provision servers. You may use the internal DHCP server supplied with
the appliance or an external DHCP server. Details on deciding whether to use a DHCP server
internal or external to the appliance and instructions for setting up an external DHCP server
are in the HP Insight Control Server Provisioning Administrator Guide, found at http://
www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs.
The Settings Edit DHCP page is also where you can download the WinPE creation utility and
then also upload the WinPE service OS once it is created. (WinPE is not packaged with the
appliance.) See “Generating and uploading WinPE to the appliance (page 16).
Walk through the Quick Start The Quick Start is a task-based set of instructions available in
the online help that gets you started doing real tasks with Insight Control server provisioning
