HP Insight Control 7.3 Update 1 Release Notes

• New OS Build Plan features
IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading from a previous release, it is important that you read the
ICsp Build Plan Reference Manual appendix for a complete list of all build plan changes that
might affect your existing build plans.
The overview of the changes are:
◦ All HP provided build plans update to use the latest drivers and tools.
◦ Out of the box OS Build Plan supports for image capture and installation of Windows
2012 R2.
◦ All OS Build Plans now have support for UEFI in addition to standard BIOS. HP is now
producing ProLiant servers that support UEFI. Extensive work has gone into all the HP
provided build plans to make sure they work in either UEFI or Legacy BIOS mode. As a
result, you do not need run different build plans depending on your server and how it is
configured.
In addition, several new build plans have been created for working with your UEFI capable
server:
– ProLiant HW - Switch to Legacy BIOS boot mode and Power Off – Changes the boot
mode to Legacy BIOS mode.
– ProLiant HW - Switch to UEFI boot mode and Power Off – Changes the boot mode
to UEFI mode.
– ProLiant HW - Clear UEFI Boot Menu – Clears custom UEFI boot options from your
server's boot menu.
◦ New build plan to update Intelligent Provisioning firmware – The ProLiant SW - Intelligent
Provisioning Firmware Update build plan is added to update the embedded Intelligent
Provisioning firmware on a ProLiant Gen8 server. To use this build plan, the version of
Intelligent Provisioning you want to update to must be unpacked onto your media server
in a folder called IP. If you use the Media Server setup utility to manage your media
server, then this tool allows you to populate this folder. Once the software is on the media
server, you can run this build plan against a Gen8 target server.
IMPORTANT: This build plan must PXE boot the Gen8 server into the service OS to do
the update. If PXE is not enabled on your network, this Build Plan does not work.
• Documentation Changes
The Installation Guide, the Admin Guide, and the Online Help are all updated.
New User Manual — Insight Control server provisioning Build Plans Reference Guide. This
important manual was formerly a white paper called Insight Control server provisioning All
About OS Build Plans and Steps. It is updated with all the changes for version 7.3 Update 1
and made into a user manual. This guide contains information from the engineering team
about every HP provided build plan and steps, and descriptions of how the build plans work.
It is a critical resource for anyone customizing or creating their own build plans. This manual
and all other user documents are located at http://www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs
under User Guides.
