HP Insight Control 7.3 Update 1 Release Notes
IMPORTANT: See the Insight Control server provisioning Installation Guide located at http://
www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs for complete details on what is supported with each
version of WinPE, how to choose the version of WinPE you use, and how to create and upload
the different versions of WinPE.
• New User Interface Features
Improved search — The search feature from the main screen is enhanced to search more
fields faster, and provide suggestions while you type.
◦
◦ Improved special character processing for media server — To account for strong password
requirements, the processing of the media server information is modified to allow nearly
all special characters in the password field. See the media server setup instructions in the
Insight Control server provisioning Installation Guide located at http://www.hp.com/go/
insightcontrol/docs for a complete list of characters that are not allowed.
• New user functionality
Device Groups — You can now create and manipulate Device Groups, which are simple user
defined groups of servers. You can create Device Groups to help organize and categorize
your servers in ways that are important to you. See the Insight Control server provisioning
online help located at http://www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs for more details. Here
are some features of the device groups:
◦ You can create many device groups.
◦ A server can be in more than one group.
◦ You can add a server to a group from the group view or the server view.
◦ You can run a build plan against all the servers in a group.
◦ You can assign custom attributes to Device Groups and those CAs are available when
running build plans.
◦ Deleting a server from a group does not delete the server from the appliance.
◦ When viewing a server, you can see a list of all the groups that the server is a member
of.
Copy build plan steps — You can now copy steps from a build plan into current build plan.
When you add steps to a build plan, a new option is added to the types of things you can
add. If you select Copy Steps from a Build Plan, you can choose from a list of already existing
build plans, and all of the steps and parameters from that build plan is copied into the current
build plan at the current selection point. After the steps are added to the build plan, they are
left selected in the UI so the positioning arrows can be used to move the block of steps up and
down as required. This feature was added to ease the process of creating large build plans
based on multiple smaller ones.
Content Import/Export version protection — Import/export of build plans now puts a version
number in the created zip file to ensure that the version of the appliance where the zip is
created matches (exactly) the version of the appliance into which the zip is imported. A
mismatch results in failure to import rather than a corruption of the appliance.
WinPE Generation Utilities and Media Server Setup Utility available on media — Copies of
the WinPE generation utilities for WinPE 3.1, WinPE 4.0, and the Media Server Setup utility
are available in the master zip file or USB media in the utilities directory. These are placed
here to be accessed without the need for a running appliance.
NOTE: The WinPE 4.0 and Media Server utilities are still available for download from a
running appliance.
