HP Insight Control 7.3 Update 1 Release Notes

to PXE boot from the appliance instead. For example, with the new WinPE support model, a Gen8
server running Intelligent Provisioning version 1.60 will not be able to install Windows 2008,
because the embedded service OS is WinPE 4.0, and Windows 2008 requires WinPE 3.x. A
solution to this is to upload WinPE 3.1 to the appliance, and then force the Gen8 to PXE boot from
the appliance instead of using Intelligent Provisioning. To force a server to always PXE boot
regardless of model, perform the following steps:
Perform a Save As of the Build Plan(s) and then edit the saved Build Plan.
Add --force --method=network to parameters of the first Boot step.
These parameters force the server to reboot into a PXE booted WinPE environment.
Setup instructions if your media server is in a Windows domain
If your media server is part of a windows domain, you must specify the media server username in
domain\username format when entering the media server information on the appliance settings
page. This format must be used even if you are specifying a local account on your media server.
Enter the information as follows:
If the account being specified is a domain account, enter domain\username.
If the account being specified is a local user account, enter computername\username,
where computername is the name of the media server.
NOTE: Older versions of the IC server provisioning Installation Guide had a section called
"Modifying you Build Plans for Windows 2012 Media Servers" that describes modifying build
plans to account for a domain user. This section was written before the "domain\username" format
was supported and is no longer needed.

Mode may be enabled manually and the server may be rebooted into the UEFI mode.
UEFI PXE requires internal DHCP server
IC server provisioning only supports provisioning UEFI servers via PXE if using the internal DHCP
server provided by the appliance.
