HP Insight Control 7.3 Release Notes
Limitations
Limitations in IC Power due to lack of IPv6 support in iPDU
The following limitations are experienced in IC Power due to a lack of IPv6 support in iPDU for
customers who are connected in IPv6:
1. Intelligent Power discovery feature are not supported when iPDU is configured with iPV6
address only.
a. iPDU, its load segments and outlets are not visible. Power information and reports will
not be available for these power delivery devices.
b. Enabling and disabling power of an iPDU outlet.
c. Powering on/off the UID LED of an iPDU.
Suggested action
The following Power Management features will be available for user even if the iPDU is discovered
with IPv6 address, but the devices (mentioned below) need to be discovered manually if they are
connected to iPDU:
1. Visualization of the layout of racks, systems/devices in a rack.
2. Viewing power information of racks, systems/devices, C-Class enclosures.
3. Viewing reports/export reports of systems (servers/enclosures)
4. Set the power caps, change power regulator mode, refresh power/thermal data of systems
(servers / enclosures).
NOTE: All features are supported, with the following exceptions:
• Power operations for ProLiant 100 are not supported.
• Association of chassis node for SL series servers is not supported.
• Graceful shutdown of Local VMs on IPv6 only hosts is not support.
• Intelligent Power discovery features are not supported when iPDU is configured with IPv6
address only.
Data Center Power Control (DCPC) works only on primary address of a system
DCPC works only on primary address of a system. It cannot detect a system with non-primary
address.
Suggested action
Provide the primary IP address of target node while creating a rule in DCPC.
Power delivery devices should not use a resolvable hostname
Power delivery devices should not use a name (or hostname) that conflicts with any other hostname
that is resolvable to an IP address in the datacenter (irrespective of whether that name is discovered
in HP SIM or not). If a power delivery device is created with a name that is a resolvable hostname,
HP SIM starts discovering with this IP address. When this occurs, power management analysis
views that attempt to display the power delivery device and may report the following error message:
Circuit {Name} does not exist.
Suggested action
To correct this situation, you must correct the system type of the {Name} to be a power delivery
device by performing the following:
1. In the Systems Insight Manager Search box, enter the {Name} to find the System page for
{Name} and click on the link for {Name}.
2. Click the Tools & Links tab.
3. Click the Edit System Properties link.
4. Change the System type: option to Power Delivery Device.
