HP Insight Control Virtual Machine Management 6.0
Insight Control virtual machine management demo licensing
A virtual machine host does not use a demo key if a purchased Insight Control virtual machine management
license key is present.
If the same backup is restored multiple times, then the Restore Virtual Machine from
backup operation fails
If the same backup is restored multiple times to different locations on the same virtual machine host, the
Restore Virtual Machine from Backup operation might fail. To resolve this issue, before selecting Restore
Virtual Machine from Backup function from the HP SIM toolbar, unregister or delete the virtual machine
guest that was restored earlier using the same backup from the virtual machine host.
Recovery of virtual machine fails with incompatible hardware configurations
The hardware and configuration of an alternate virtual machine host must be compatible with a virtual
machine to be recovered. If the alternate host hardware or configuration is not compatible, then you can
reconfigure the virtual machine after the Recover Virtual Machines of Failed Host operation has been
performed.
An error occurs when you click Remote Desktop
When you click Remote Desktop in the HP SIM Host System page using Internet Explorer browser, the
following error might appear:
Internet Explorer cannot download e.rdp?hostname=<host IP> from <host>.
Displaying Remote Desktop for the virtual machine requires the file remote.rdp to be downloaded. If the
Internet options are set to disable download of files, then this error occurs.
To resolve this issue:
1. From the Internet Explorer browser, select Tools→Internet Options→Advanced.
2. Clear the Do not save encrypted pages to disk option.
3. Click Apply.

Stop VM task does not perform as expected on Xen on RHEL 5.4 x86 virtual machine
hosts
On a Xen on RHEL 5.4 x86 virtual-machine host, a Stop operation perfomed on a Microsoft Windows virtual
machine guest, may not succeed. In such a case, VMM would display a timed-out message and would not
indicate a failure.
Error message Unknown to VMM appears when performing the copy operation on
a virtual machine
If the error message Unknown to VMM appears when performing the copy operation on a virtual machine,
ensure that the virtual machine exists on the host. If the virtual machine has been deleted from the host, but
the virtual machine node is still present in HP SIM, run the Identify Systems task on the virtual machine host
from Options→Identify Systems in HP SIM. If the virtual machine was manually discovered in HP SIM
using the IP address, then the virtual machine must be deleted from the HP SIM All Systems page.
Transport operation fails after restarting Insight Control virtual machine management
If you restart Insight Control virtual machine management after initiating the transport operation, the transport
operation will fail. However, the result of the transport operation on the virtual machine host is
hypervisor-dependent. This might require removing unwanted resources such as virtual machine files and
disks on the hypervisor.
