Virtual machine guest
Depending on the guest configuration, additional details might appear. To display the following configuration
information for the host or guest, click a virtual machine guest in the HP SIM console, and then click the
System tab. Information appears only for the virtual machine guests that are fully configured.
• Virtual machine controls—Controls that enable you to launch the Remote Desktop/Remote VNC and
the VM Console, as well as start, stop, reset, and pause virtual machines.
For Microsoft Hyper-V server, the Launch SCVMM button appears. For VMware ESX Server, the Launch
vCenter button appears. Press the appropriate button to launch the hypervisor-specific management
console.
• Virtual machine configuration details
VM host—The system name of the virtual machine host•
• Virtualization—The virtualization technology installed on the virtual machine host
• Alternate host—The failover host set by the user if it is set for the VM
• Configuration file—The name and location of the configuration file
• Configuration folder—The name and location of the configuration folder
• Memory—The amount of memory on the virtual machine host
• Virtual NIC—The type of virtual disk displaying the location, mode, and capacity
• Virtual disk—The type of virtual disk
• CD/DVD ROM—Details about the drive
When the host CD/DVD drive is selected while adding a CD/DVD drive to a Microsoft Hyper-V
server virtual machine, a lengthy string (for example,
IDE\CDROMTEAC_DW-224E-V________C.CA__\53C5E1CB00.0.0) might appear in the
Virtual Machine configuration details. This string varies based on the type of CD/DVD drive
attached. This string does not affect functionality.
• Floppy drive—Identity of the floppy drive
• Virtual machine backups—Information about the backups for the virtual machine
