2 Issues and suggested actions 2.1 Licensing notes 2.1.1 Insight Control for Linux license assigned to management processor Be advised that Insight Control for Linux permits you to assign an Insight Control for Linux license to an MP, which is not recommended because it uses a license unnecessarily. 2.1.2 Warning message: This system is already enabled This message occurs when you try to apply a license to a system that is already enabled for the product. Corrective action: Deselect the system. 2.
newitem.gd2 The file name used for the statusmap display. The recommended method for creating a GD2 format file is discussed at the end of this section. Where newitem indicates the new server, switch, or enclosure. The following describes the procedures naming the new item, based on whether it is a server, switch, or enclosure: • For servers: 1. Find the product name: a. Click All Servers under System and Event Collections in the left pane. The All Servers window opens. b. Find the row for the server. c.
◦ The 1. 2. 3. enclosure.gd2 for the statusmap. recommended method for creating a GD2 format file is as follows: If you have not already done so, install the libgd -tools package. Convert your image file to PNG format. Use the pngtogd2 utility to convert the PNG image file to GD2 format. Use a chunk size of 0 during the conversion to create an uncompressed GD2 image because compressed GD2 images slow down the generation of the statusmap CGI image.
2.5 Linux OS installation notes 2.5.1 Packages might hinder SLES installation If you are using the SLES 10 SP4 or SLES 11 SP1 KISO, HP recommends that you edit your AutoYaST file to remove these packages: • kernel-source • kernel-syms 2.5.2 Installing RHEL/SLES on servers with HP SmartArray B120i/B320i RAID controllers Follow the procedure in this section to install a RHEL or SLES operating system on a server configured with an HP SmartArray B120i or B320i RAID controller (that is enabled in the BIOS).
# mkdir /opt/repository/rh63dudi586 Or # mkdir /opt/repository/rh63dudx64 c. Copy the driver update disk to the directory that contains the kernel modules: • For RHEL 6.1 and RHEL 6.2 operating systems, copy the driver update disk/opt/ repository/hpvsa. For example: # cp be2iscsi-4.1.377.2-rh6u1.x86_64.img /opt/repository/hpvsa/ • For the RHEL 6.3 operating system, copy the driver update disk to /opt/repository/rh63dudArch, unzip it, and rename it to dd.img. For example: # # # # 4. cp hpvsa-1.2.4-4.
Operating System BL120i controller BL320i controller 32 bit broken_modules=ahci vmalloc=384M vmalloc=384M 64 bit broken_modules=ahci SLES 11 SP1 and later Not required 2.5.3 Installing SLES 10 SP3 requires earlier version of SPP or PSP The hp-ilo package for the SLES 10 operating system is absent from the versions of the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) and the ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) specified for this release. Corrective action: Follow these steps: 1. Download the SPP or PSP from http://www.hp.
2.6.2 Capturing and deploying Linux images This section contains notes about capturing and deploying Linux images. 2.6.2.1 Partitioning fails on SLES 11 SP1 image deployment An invalid partition captured in a SLES 11 SP1 image might cause Insight Control for Linux to fail to partition a server during a deployment. The partition will have no filesystem type, no mount point or other valid information.
