Delete the file /var/opt/hpsmdb/data/postmaster.pid file (where pid is the
process id for the postmaster service).

2. Reboot the system.
3. Rerun the Insight Control for Linux installation script:
# install.sh --upgrade
Follow this procedure to restart the postmaster service manually:
On the CMS, switch to user hpsmdb:1.
# su hpsmdb
2. Start the postmaster command:
# /opt/hpsmdb/bin/postmaster D /var/opt/hpsmdb/data &
NOTE: This command must run in the background.
3. Return to the root shell:
# exit
4. When the root prompt returns, stop the hpsmdbservice if it is already running:
# /etc/init.d/hpsmdb stop
5. Start the hpsmdb service.
# /etc/init.d/hpsmdb start
6. Restart SIM:
# mxstart
7. Rerun the Insight Control for Linux installation script with the --upgrade option:
# install.sh --upgrade
2.3 Licensing notes
This section contains notes that apply to Insight Control for Linux licensing.
2.3.1 Insight Control for Linux license assigned to management processor
Be advised that Insight Control for Linux permits you to assign an Insight Control for Linux license
to an MP, which is not recommended because it uses a license unnecessarily.
2.3.2 Warning message: This system is already enabled
This message occurs when you try to apply a license to a system that is already enabled for the
product.
Corrective action: Deselect the system.
2.4 Network configuration notes
This section contains notes about the Network Configuration Editor and the Define Networks task.
2.4.1 Internet Explorer generates error when Define Networks task is launched from
the Network Configuration Editor
Clicking the Define Networks button of the Network Configuration Editor to invoke the Define
Networks task generates an HTTP Status 500 error in an Internet Explorer browser.
Corrective actions:
Use the OptionsIC-LinuxDefine Networks... menu item to invoke the Define Networks task.
Be sure to define the networks before using the Network Configuration Editor.
