HP Insight Control for Linux 6.1 Support Matrix

1 This OS requires ProLiant Support Pack 8.51.
2 Network installation of the ESX virtualization operating system is not supported by Insight Control for Linux if the
server requires a "driver CD". This includes servers with a ServerEngines NIC, like the BL685 G7 and BL465c G7.
3 Installation of an ESXi virtualization OS using PXE boot is unsupported.
Insight Control for Linux 6.1 provides the ability to perform an interactive network installation of the ESXi
virtualization operating systems listed here, using the virtual media feature available on iLO-based servers. Virtual
media treats an ISO file as if it were a virtual CD-ROM. See the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide for more
information on performing an installation using virtual media.
Note that interactive network installations of ESXi operating systems using PXE are not supported, however, Insight
Control for Linux 6.1 provides enablement for performing an interactive network installation of ESXi 3.5 U5, 4.0 U1,
and 4.0 U2 using PXE. Although an interactive network installation is possible, VMware may choose not to support
an installation done in this manner because it is not their recommended way for installing ESXi operating systems.
At this time, ESXi 4.1 interactive network installations have not been tested successfully using PXE and, as a result,
Insight Control for Linux can not provide enablement for ESXi 4.1. ESXi 4.1 installations can, however, be performed
using virtual media (on iLO-based servers only).
4 Novell supports Xen-PAE kernel only in SLES 10 SP3 x86 Host, but Novell supports both Xen and Xen-PAE kernels
in the SLES 10 SP3 x86_64 host. HP Insight Control virtual machine management is tested on the appropriate
supported kernel.
NOTES:
Managed systems can run other, non-supported variants of Linux, such as CentOS and
Debian GNU/Linux. For more information, see the following white papers:
