1 Central management server requirements The HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) Central Management Server (CMS) is the server on which HP SIM and the HP Insight Control for Linux (Insight Control for Linux) software is installed. 1.1 CMS requirements The server you choose to be the CMS must fulfill the requirements listed in Table 1-1.
1 2 The amount of disk space required varies with the needs of your installation. This amount is based on two Linux operating systems, two captured Linux images, two ProLiant Support Packs, several shell scripts, and several installation configuration files. This operating system requires ProLiant Support Pack 8.51. 1.2 Upgrade path to this release The CMS must run Insight Control for Linux version 2.10 or higher to upgrade to Insight Control for Linux Version 6.1.
2 Managed system requirements Managed systems are the HP ProLiant servers monitored and managed by Insight Control for Linux. Managed systems must fulfill the requirements listed in Table 2-1. Table 2-1 Managed system requirements Component Requirement Processor architecture • x86 • AMD64 • x86-64 HP server model HP ProLiant c-Class blade servers, DL series servers, ML series, and SL series servers are supported for use as managed systems.
1 2 3 4 This OS requires ProLiant Support Pack 8.51. Network installation of the ESX virtualization operating system is not supported by Insight Control for Linux if the server requires a "driver CD". This includes servers with a ServerEngines NIC, like the BL685 G7 and BL465c G7. Installation of an ESXi virtualization OS using PXE boot is unsupported. Insight Control for Linux 6.
3 Supported servers and enclosures This chapter lists the HP ProLiant servers and HP BladeSystem enclosures that are supported for use with Insight Control for Linux. For a list of HP ProLiant servers that support RHEL and SLES operating systems, see the Linux certification and support matrix - HP ProLiant servers web site: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hplinuxcert.

4 Supported versions of HP partner products This chapter lists the HP software products and product versions that are either included with or supported for use in combination with Insight Control for Linux Version 6.1. 4.1 HP Systems Insight Manager Supported version: 6.1 Insight Control for Linux Version 6.1 is based on HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM). You do not have to preinstall HP SIM on the Central Management Server (CMS) before you install Insight Control for Linux. HP SIM Version 6.
IMPORTANT: PSPs are not available for ProLiant DL100 series servers such as the DL160, DL165, DL180, and DL185. PSP version 8.51 is required if you plan to install the entire PSP on your SLES 11 SP1 managed system running SLES 11 SP1; the version 6.1 release of Insight Control for Linux precedes the release of PSP version 8.51. However, you can use PSP 8.50 to install the SLES11 SP1 operating system because Insight Control for Linux only installs a subset of the PSP components.
5 Web browser and client requirements 5.1 Web browser requirements HP supports the use of Insight Control for Linux with the following browsers: Browser Platform that the browser runs on Mozilla Firefox 3 (and higher) Linux, Windows, HP-UX Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Windows Internet Explorer 8 Windows 5.2 Client requirements You can use a client-hosted web browser interface to establish a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) session with Insight Control for Linux.
