HP Insight Control for Linux 7.1 Update 1 Release Notes
2.5 Linux OS installation notes
2.5.1 Packages might hinder SLES installation
If you are using the SLES 10 SP4 or SLES 11 SP1 KISO, HP recommends that you edit your AutoYaST
file to remove these packages:
• kernel-source
• kernel-syms
2.5.2 Installing RHEL/SLES on servers with HP SmartArray B120i/B320i RAID
controllers
Follow the procedure in this section to install a RHEL or SLES operating system on a server configured
with an HP SmartArray B120i or B320i RAID controller (that is enabled in the BIOS). The HP RAID
driver that supports the HP B120i and B320i controllers must be installed after RHEL or SLES
operating system installation, but before system reboot.
1. Ensure that the RHEL or SLES operating system that you are installing was downloaded and
staged in the Insight Control for Linux respository.
NOTE: If you are installing SLES11 SP1, download the latest version of the SLES11 SP1
KISO.
For information on how to copy the KISO into the Insight Control for Linux repository after
downloading it, see the section titled “Copying software to the Insight Control for Linux
repository” in the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide.
2. Download the customized initrd for the OS that you are installing.
NOTE: The section titled “Update to Table 15, Download web address for customized initrd
files and KISOs” (page 18) in these Release Notes contains the FTP addresses for the initrd
files.
For more information, see the section titled “Additional prerequisites for certain ProLiant servers”
in the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide.
