newitem.gd2 The file name used for the statusmap display. The
recommended method for creating a GD2 format file is
discussed at the end of this section.
Where newitem indicates the new server, switch, or enclosure.
The following describes the procedures naming the new item, based on whether it is a server,
switch, or enclosure:
• For servers:
Find the product name:1.
a. Click All Servers under System and Event Collections in the left pane. The All Servers
window opens.
b. Find the row for the server.
c. Find the product name under the Product Name column.
For example, ProLiant BL465c G7
2. Remove all space characters from the product name.
Continuing with the example, ProLiantBL465cG7
3. Change uppercase characters to lower case
Continuing with the example, proliantbl465cg7
Name the new images with the appropriate extensions. Using the example:
◦ proliantbl465cg7.jpg or proliantbl465cg7.gif for the icon
◦ proliantbl465cg7.gd2 for the statusmap.
• For switches:
Find the product name:1.
a. Click Systems→Shared→Systems by Type→All Networking Devices under System
and Event Collections in the left pane. The All Networking Devices window opens.
b. Find the row for the switch.
c. Find the product name under the Product Name column.
For example, J8693A HP (ProCurve)
2. Remove all space characters from the product name.
Continuing with the example, J8693AHP(ProCurve)
3. Change uppercase characters to lower case
Continuing with the example, j8693ahp(procurve)
Name the new images with the appropriate extensions. Using the example:
◦ j8693ahp(procurve).jpg or j8693ahp(procurve).gif for the icon
◦ j8693ahp(procurve).gd2 for the statusmap.
NOTE: Remember to either a) use the backslash character {\) before any parenthesis or
other special characters or b) specify the file name within quotes when naming these files.
• For enclosures
Insight Control for Linux only supports one enclosure image at this time.
The names of the corresponding files are:
