1 Release description 1.1 Description Insight Control for Linux is a Linux-hosted management product for HP ProLiant servers in enterprise environments and high performance workgroups. Insight Control for Linux is designed as a plug-in to HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM).
1.4 Operating systems and servers Supported operating systems and servers are listed in the HP Insight Control for Linux Support Matrix, available from the Insight Control for Linux Information Library: http://www.hp.com/go/insightcontrol/docs 1.5 Enhancements This release includes support for new servers, operating systems, and virtualization operating systems. 1.5.1 Support for Service Pack for ProLiant With this release, Insight Control for Linux supports Service Packs for ProLiant (SPP).
• Xen on RHEL 5.8 • Xen on SLES 11 SP2 • KVM on RHEL 5.8 • KVM on RHEL 6.2 • KVM on SLES 11 SP2 1.6 Fixes The primary objective of this release is to support the latest HP ProLiant platforms, to support the latest revisions of supported operating systems and hypervisors, and to address software issues. 2 Issues and suggested actions 2.1 Licensing notes 2.1.1 Insight Control for Linux license assigned to management processor Be advised that Insight Control for Linux permits you to assign an Insight Control for Linux license to an MP, which is not recommended because it uses a license unnecessarily. 2.1.2 Warning message: This system is already enabled This message occurs when you try to apply a license to a system that is already enabled for the product. Corrective action: Deselect the system. 2.
2.5.2 Installing RHEL/SLES on servers with HP SmartArray B120i/B320i RAID controllers To install a RHEL or SLES operating system on a server configured with an HP SmartArray B120i or B320i RAID controller (that is enabled in the BIOS), you must install the RAID driver if you want to use RAID. The HP RAID driver that supports the HP B120i and B320i controllers must be installed after RHEL or SLES operating system installation, but before system reboot. Use the following procedure: 1.

Version Is the version of RHEL, that is either rhel6u1 or rhel6u2. Arch Denotes the architecture, either i586 or x86_64. Add the following lines directly below the %%driverinstall%% macro in the Kickstart file. This example is for a RHEL 6 Update 2 operating system.
2.6 Linux image capture and deployment notes 2.6.1 Image capture/deployment issues with VID enabled setting on Gen8 servers The Virtual Install Disk BIOS option on Gen8 servers, if set to Enabled, might cause image capture and deployment operations to fail. Furthermore, a server running the SLES 10 SP4 operating system could fail with a partitioning error. Corrective actions: • Set 1. 2. 3. 4.
2.7 ProLiant Support Pack note 2.7.1 Partial PSPs Insight Control for Linux no longer supports the partial PSPs packaged with the CMS. These partial PSPs lack the driver source RPMs that Insight Control for Linux needs. Corrective action: Download the full PSP from the following website and copy it into the repostiory: http://www.hp.
