2.1 Customer advisories

2.2 Insight Control for Linux installation and upgrade notes
2.2.1 Upgrading from V2.10.01 is not supported
Upgrading directly to Version 6.3 from Insight Control for Linux Version 2.10.01 introduces known
issues with the HP Insight Control power management functionality. As a result, HP does not support
this upgrade path.
Corrective action: HP recommends that you stop this installation and use the instructions in the HP
Insight Control for Linux Installation Guide to perform a full installation of Insight Control for Linux
Version 6.3.
2.2.2 SIM might fail to start on SLES11 CMS during installation
The installation of Insight Control for Linux on a CMS running SLES 11 sometimes fails with the
following SIM startup error because SIM startup delays are affecting the installation:

HP Systems Insight Manager Initialization Starts at: Monday, datestamp
...........Failed
Exception: Configuration failed to complete due to the following
exception:
Cannot start HP Systems Insight Manager service.
Possible cause: HP Systems Insight Manager service is not properly
installed.
Corrective action:
1. Wait for SIM to start up.
2. Determine if SIM is running with the mxnode command.
3. Rerun install.sh.
2.2.3 HPSMDB service might fail to start when Insight Control for Linux is upgraded
The HP SIM HPSMDB service might fail to start when Insight Control for Linux is upgraded from
Version 6.0 to Version 6.3. This requires the manual restart of the SIM postmaster service.
Corrective action: Choose either of these methods:
