IMPORTANT: PSPs are not available for ProLiant DL100 series servers such as the DL160, DL165,
DL180, and DL185.
PSP version 8.51 is required if you plan to install the entire PSP on your SLES 11 SP1 managed
system running SLES 11 SP1; the version 6.1 release of Insight Control for Linux precedes the
release of PSP version 8.51. However, you can use PSP 8.50 to install the SLES11 SP1 operating
system because Insight Control for Linux only installs a subset of the PSP components.
NOTE: In some cases, it is possible to configure a managed system without PSP software. For
more information, see the white paper titled Setting up Managed Systems in Insight Control for
Linux without the ProLiant Support Pack.
To obtain this white paper, see Section 6.3 (page 21).
4.5 HP Smart Update Firmware DVD
NOTE: The HP Smart Update Firmware DVD was previously known as the HP ProLiant
Firmware Maintenance DVD (and, in earlier releases, CD).
Supported version: 9.0
Each ProLiant server usually has several devices that require regular firmware updates, and HP
offers a set of tools on the HP Smart Update Firmware DVD that help simplify the task of updating
firmware.
The HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) is a tool on the HP Smart Update Firmware DVD that
is used during the firmware installation process.
The firmware DVD is available for download at the http://www.hp.com web site.
