3. Stop the HP Insight Management services listed in Table 3 in the order shown in the Stop order column. You can do this
from the command prompt using the mxsync-svcutil script, which is located in <SIM>\mxsync\bin. See
Appendix D: mxsync-svcutil man page for more information about mxsync-svcutil.
mxsync-svcutil stop backup
For HA CMS configurations, some local services are not configured as part of the HP Insight Management cluster
service; they must be stopped on both nodes. These services are stopped automatically on the primary node by the
stop command. They must be stopped manually on the secondary node. To do this, log in to the secondary node and
stop the services running the mxsync-svcutil script (if installed locally) from the command prompt.
Notes:
• If you have implemented a policy to automatically restart stopped services in your environment, this policy will
need to be disabled temporarily to avoid restarting the services during the backup. If you have changed the
Windows service startup type for any of the installed HP Insight Management components, you must modify the
mxsync-svcutil script to reflect these changes.
• For HA CMS configurations, you must manually copy the mxsync-svcutil.bat script to the boot disk of
each cluster node.
• For HA CMS cluster configurations, most HP Insight Management services are configured as cluster resources.
These services should not be stopped or started as services directly; they must be managed as cluster resources.
The mxsync-svcutil script is cluster-aware, and will take the cluster resources containing these services
offline to stop the services.
• For infrastructure orchestration federated CMS configurations, it is only necessary to stop and start HP Insight
Management services running on the server being backed up. The HP Matrix infrastructure orchestration services
should only be stopped and started on the primary CMS when backing it up.
