NOTES
• HP IPSC is bundled with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. When managing more than 1000
devices, a full Microsoft SQL Server instance is recommended.
• Connecting to a remote database is made possible through the install process.
• Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio is required to configure remote db access.
• Enhanced SQL Server security requires users installing IPSC and connecting to a local SQL Server 2012
database engine to have db sysadmin rights. ( See SQL 2012 Tech Brief @ www.hp.com/go/ipsc )
VMware Support
HP IPSC is supported in a VMware environment.
Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 1 and above and Windows Server 2008 R2 and above are
compatible guest operating systems in VMware’s ESX and ESXi versions 4.0 Update 4 and above. This
includes both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of each operating system.
Note: If installing HP IPSC on a VMware instance, you must use the hardware (MAC) address of that
virtual adapter during the ordering of the license file. Be aware that VMware dynamically generates the
virtual adapter MAC address and does not guarantee it will remain static during session restarts or power
toggling. If the MAC address changes, the print license service will fail to operate properly. Refer to
VMware help documentation for instructions on how to configure a static MAC address or how to change
the modified MAC address back to original.
