later the icod_stat command may generate a message indicating that the compliance state of
the system requires an upgrade codeword. You can obtain the upgrade codeword from the
iCAP portal; for more information, refer to the HP Instant Capacity User's Guide for your version
of iCAP.
It is safe to install iCAP version B.06.00 or later on any cell-based system. Any HP-UX OE media
that supplies iCAP version C.06.00 or later requires that the iCAP software is installed on all cell-
based systems even if non-iCAP. Failure to install the software may cause components of other
software products used to manage partitions (vPars and nPars) to cease functioning. This is
applicable to both iCAP and non-iCAP cell-based systems.
From iCAP version B.8.00 and onwards, you can install iCAP onto any system since it can be a
GiCAP group manager. The one exception is N, V, and L series iCAP systems. You must not
upgrade the iCAP software past version 6.x on those systems.
Summary
If you ensure that Ignite-UX is kept up-to-date on your system and carefully think about the software
you are attempting to install, you are unlikely to encounter a lot of the problems described herein.
