HP Storage Platform 2.1 Release Notes

Known Issues
Documentation
The following items involve changes to HPSP documentation.
Single disk enclosure group cabling diagram in figure 19 of HP Ibrix 9320 Platform Guide Volume I:
Overview, First Edition (SAW document number c03605059) is incorrect. The next edition of the
platform guides will correct this error.
Failure to correctly follow MDS600 FRU replacement procedures can erase the enclosure serial
number and render MDS600 unusable until repaired by onsite engineering support. Steps
(requiring factory assistance) to recover will be documented in the next edition of the of the 9730
Platform Guide.
Credentials Management
The following are known issues with Credentials Management:
The address lookup portion of the credential database currently does not implement an
acceptable operation for adding new lookup parameters after the initial creation of the
database. This can cause problems with the addition of new hardware after an initial
configuration is in place, as might be encountered during the expansion of system storage.
The following manual steps will be required to ensure that the credential database is properly
setup to make use of the new hardware:
1. Remove the file: /opt/hp/platform/conf/addrcache.xml.
2. Re-run the new hardware registration steps.
When iLO IP addresses in the 9730 servers are changed, HPSP code will generally acquire the
new addresses automatically. When an address is looked up, an ICMP ping is sent to ensure that
the endpoint exists; if the ping fails then the address is automatically re-acquired via automatic
lookup mechanisms. If this doesn’t work for some reason ( for example because another element
is responding to the ping on the original address ) then the addrmgmt cache file can be removed
to for the address to be re-acquired.
Firmware Management Tool
The following are known issues with the Firmware Management Tool:
When upgrading firmware of the HDDs in the dense JBODs (MDS600 and D6000), sometimes
individual HDDs upgrades fail and the only way to get them upgraded is to downgrade all of the
drives and try again. This behavior is not due to HPSP_FMT but the underlying HDD
smartcomponent used by HPSP_FMT and is under investigation.
Diagnostic messages and advice regarding power supply PIC firmware within a storage
enclosure are ambiguous. This is under investigation. In general, individual PIC firmware is never
updated as a separate component but updated implicitly, only as part of the JBOD firmware
update. Until resolution of this issue, use the tip below.
