NOTE:
The product id and serial number can be found on the pull out tab next to the
power button
of the blade enclosure with the new system board. Enter the strings exactly
as printed on the tab.
1. During the server blade startup sequence, press the F9 key to access RBSU.
2. Select the Advanced Options menu.
3. Select Service Options.
4. Select Serial Number. The following warnings appear:
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! The serial number is loaded into the system
during the manufacturing process and should NOT be modified. This option
should only be used by qualified service personnel. This value should
always match the serial number sticker located on the chassis.
Warning: The serial number should ONLY be modified by qualified
personnel. This value should always match the serial number located on
the chassis.
5. Press the Enter key to clear the warning.
6. Enter the serial number and press the Enter key.
7. Select Product ID. The following warning appears:
Warning: The Product ID should ONLY be modified by qualified personnel.
This value should always match the Product ID on the chassis.
8. Enter the product ID and press the Enter key.
9. Press the Esc key to close the menu.
10. Press the Esc key to exit RBSU.
11. Press the F10 key to confirm exiting RBSU. The server blade automatically reboots.
Procedure to restore the MAC address configuration
(Use one of the two precedures below)
Procedure A:
Use the OA to give you the new MAC addresses of the server:
1. Login to OA CLI
2. Use the command “show server port map X” where X is the server bay id and make a note
of the MAC addresses
i. eth0 should have the MAC address of LOM1-a
ii. eth3 should have the MAC address of LOM2-b
iii. If these are in use, eth1 gets LOM1-b and eth2 gets LOM2-a
3. Change the HWADDR entires in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth* to match the
MAC addresses of the new system board.
Procedure B:
For a system that has more than four NIC ports enabled (which is rare), you will have to consult
one of the surviving blade servers configuration files to determine the LOM->eth device mapping
to correctly setup the HWADDR entries.
