HP StoreAll OS 6.5.1 Release Notes
• After installing or restoring an X9720 system, the /etc/machines file is now populated correctly
at the end of the configuration process so pdsh commands will work properly. Previously, a pdsh
command would fail with the message: /etc/machines : File Not Found".
• Tar file-related operations on Linux clients, such as untarring a tar archive file, are now completing
within the expected time frames. Previously, these operations were taking too long to complete.
For example, untarring a 107 MB file was taking more than two hours to complete. That same
operation now completes in less than a minute.
• File names that contain Danish characters can now be viewed properly whether they are accessed
from an HP-SMB share, an FTP share, or directly from the StoreAll node.
• The order of steps in "Upgrading from StoreAll versions 6.3.x or earlier" in the HP StoreAll OS
6.5.1 Upgrade Guide was corrected. Previously, the step to verify the software version (using
ibrix_version -l) was listed after the upgrade script is run on the first node. However, the
step cannot be completed until Fusion Manager is running in a later step.
6.5
The following sections describe enhancements, updated firmware included in the Firmware Management
tool, and fixes for HP StoreAll OS Software version 6.5.
Enhancements
• The ibrix_exportfs command was changed to include the options sync, crossmnt, and
subtree_check by default. Any NFS export created will include these options.
• Support for Object Store.
• Support for HP-SMB username mapping.
• Support for authentication provider stacking.
• The Filesystem Metadata Cleaner task, which is enabled with Express Query, will trigger WORM
transition for autocommitted files, which was previously handled by the validation scan. By default,
the Filesystem Metadata Cleaner task runs at 1:30 a.m. daily.
• Directory leases are now supported for SMB protocol (SMB3) clients.
The following limitations apply to the use of Directory leases:
◦ Directory leases are not supported for any other protocol (such as FTP, HTTP, and NFS).
Further, if a client of another protocol accesses data on a share with a directory lease, it will
prevent the directory lease from functioning correctly. For example, the SMB client could be
caching operations at the same time that an NFS client writes to the same directory. This
could cause the directory to become inconsistent and the directory contents to be overwritten
with what the SMB client cached and not what the NFS client wrote.
◦ Directory leases are only supported on one server in a cluster.
◦ The Directory leases feature is disabled by default in the StoreAll OS 6.5 software. See
“SMB” (page 30) for information about how to enable this feature.
See “Fixes” (page 7) for a list of fixes in this release.
