6.0 HP X9000 File Serving Software Installation (TA768-96041, October 2011)
Configuring a 10GbE network
In 10GbE environments with demanding workloads, system performance can be maximized by
configuring the cluster network to operate over the 10GbE network ports in the file
server/Management nodes. The objective is to enable inter-segment file I/O through the 10GbE
interfaces. Even with a 10GbE cluster network, a 1GbE management network is still required and
should be configured as shown because the iLO interfaces and MSA management ports are all
1GbE interfaces.
With the 1GbE management network and the 10GbE cluster network, the interfaces are used as
follows.
1GbE interfaces:
• MSA controller management
• Administrative iLO access
• Server fencing through iLO
10GbE interfaces:
• Intersegment file I/O (used internally by X9000 File System and distribution engine)
• Client access to X9000 file systems over NFS, CIFS, FTP, HTTP, or X9000 client
• Cluster management and operation
