Configuring the NIC ports and network addresses on the 1GbE cluster/management
network
The cluster network NIC ports on the file serving nodes/Management Servers and the optional
Dedicated Management Server are bonded to provide path redundancy and higher aggregate
performance. The following table describes how to configure the bonds and provides a suggested
IP address plan for the cluster network. ALB - mode 6 bonding is the default recommended bonding
mode for a 1GbE network.

Configuring the NIC ports and network addresses on the 1GbE user network
The user network must be adapted to the environment in which the Scalable NAS system will live
and operate. As such, its configuration is not locked down. The optional Dedicated Management
Server (if configured) and file serving nodes have dedicated NIC ports that are reserved for the
user network. ALB — mode 6 bonding is the default recommended bonding mode for a 1GbE
network.
