5.6.x HP X9000 Series Network Storage System Installation Guide (TA768-96056, December 2011)
NOTE: An X9300 Gateway pair can be substituted for an X9320 system.
Factory cabling of the cluster network
For Rev B models of the X9320 system (introduced in April 2010), the cluster network is cabled
in the factory if the system is ordered with factory rack integration. The cluster network is cabled
per the cluster network cabling diagram shown in “Onsite cabling of the cluster network” (page 65).
NOTE: Rev A models of the X9320 system did not include the dual 48-port cluster network
switches. Instead, the Rev A rack included a single 24-port switch, which is nonredundant and can
accommodate only a single X9320 system or X9300 Gateway pair. Rev A models of the X9320
and X9300 systems can be cabled and configured to the specifications shown in this chapter by
adding the pair of ProCurve 2910al-48G (J9147A) switches to the rack and cabling and configuring
the cluster network as described here. To retrofit a Rev A rack, replace the ProCurve 2900-24G
in the rack with the following items:

Onsite cabling of the cluster network
1. Interconnect the two cluster network switches using the 10GbE interconnection module and
CX4 cable as shown in “Network switches in the X9300 Storage System base rack (AW546B)”
(page 64).
2. Attach the file serving nodes (X9320 system or X9300 gateway pairs) to the cluster network
switches as shown in the following diagram.
3. Attach the MSA controllers to the cluster network switches as shown in the following diagram.
4. Attach the cluster management server to the cluster network switches as shown in the following
diagram.
