Unable to Uninstall the Windows Ibrix Client Install Failure

Unable to uninstall the Windows Ibrix Client Install
Failure
Solution ID: 108
Created: 8/12/2009
DETAILS:
The problem was that the ibrixclient.msi pkg was being pushed out by SMS with a
specialised install script. This script was interfering with the WIC install such that the
ibrixclient would not show up under Control Panel, and the ‘uninstaller exec’ in the
registry would not work properly when attempting to upgrade the client. It fails because it
can’t remove the old client.
The uninstall error seen on client:
"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run
as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support
personal or package vendor"
However, we proved that if you did a manual install using the ibrixclient.msi it would go
clean and show under Control Panel programs, and also respond to uninstalling via
clicking on the msi uninstaller option.
Reported Solution
:
To remove the old IbrixClent pkg and IDEFS driver you have to do the following
manually:
C:\ Programs Files\ IBRIX \bin
IbrixClientService.exe-Install /U
ServiceInstaller.exe IDEFS -r
reboot server
when it comes back up, check to ensure above is gone from the services
sc query IDEFS
sc query FusionClient
"no programs or driver call IDEFs exist!"
Now we were able to install the ibrixclient.msi and remove it just fine doing it manually
bypassing their install scripts.
