HP IAP Procedure For Recovering Primary/Secondary SmartCells From Replica SmartCells Whitepaper
4
SmartCell Recovery Process – Use Case
Example System Configuration
For the purposes of this example use case, assume the IAP system is configured as follows:
PrimSys (
Primary IAP
) – GroupID: XYZ001
Primary SmartCell (P) 10.0.172.1 -> hard drive failure
Secondary SmartCell (S) 10.0.204.1 -> hard drive failure
RepSys (
Replica IAP
) – GroupID: XYZ001
Replica1 SmartCell (R1) 10.0.172.2 -> functioning as normal
Replica2 SmartCell (R2) 10.0.204.2 -> functioning as normal
Assumptions
The recovery steps below are based upon the following assumptions:
1. The Replica IAP site is still in working order (i.e., functioning as normal).
2. The SmartCell replacement drives are hardware-compatible with the existing SmartCell
chassis.
3. The customer is aware that the hard drives must be physically shipped from their Replica IAP
site to the Primary IAP site.
4. The Replica IAP was installed and put into production at approximately the same time the
Primary IAP was put into production.
5. The individual running the recovery procedure is familiar with the basic operations of
removing/replacing disk drives, using the IAP Platform Control Center (PCC) and console,
etc.
