The idle percentage for the HSG80 array controller is the first item displayed on
the second line of the VTDPY display. If the HSG80 array controller is less than
50% idle and the screen display indicates activity, the processing load should be
reduced.
NOTE: You must wait a minimum of 60 seconds to allow for the failover and cache-flushing
process to complete. The VTDPY display refreshes every 10 seconds.
To exit VTDPY, press <Ctrl> C, and then enter the following:
HSGA> exit
16. Upgrade the software on Controller B by performing the following steps:
NOTE: After step 16 is successfully performed, the previous ACS version cannot be restored to
this subsystem.
a. Remove the program card ESD cover from Controller B.
b. Press and hold the HSG80 array controller Reset button while ejecting the old
program card.
c. Release the Reset button.
d. Press and hold the Reset button while inserting the new program card (ACS
V8.7-1).
e. Release the Reset button. Controller B restarts.
NOTE: An HSG80 array controller restart can take as long as 60 seconds, indicated by the
temporary cycling of the port LEDs and a flashing Reset button. Disregard messages about
misconfigured controllers or failover status. When Controller B restarts, it automatically shuts
down Controller A.
f. Install the program card ESD cover on Controller B.
17. Verify that Controller B completed initialization:
a. Connect the PC or terminal to the maintenance port of Controller B.
b. Make sure that the CLI prompt for Controller B appears.
c. Verify that Controller A is shut down. (The Reset button and the first three
LEDs light up. See Figure 1.) Proceed only after the Reset button stops
flashing and remains on.
18. Run VTDPY to verify that all Controller B units are online and that there is I/O
activity by entering the following CLI command:
HSGB> RUN VTDPY
